- (5/11/1904 Figueras-1/25/1989 Figueras) (Spain); aka Dali y Domenech, SalvadorPainter, etcher, illustrator, author, filmmaker, and sculptor. One of the most prominent individuals in 20th century art and the best known of the Surrealists. As much famed for his flamboyant behavior and self-aggrandizement as for his many paintings, sculptures, films, etc. Studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. Much of his work involved dream and fantasy themes that included sexual images.
